BRITISH LIBRARY SELLS
ANIMAL SOUNDS FROM ARCHIVE FOR CELLPHONE RING TONES
Nothing is more annoying than
those cutesy cell phone rings. But soon, mobile movers and shakers
will be able to download even "cooler" rings, such as a lion
roaring or a parrot squawking. The British Library has sold
40 tracks from its collection of 100,000 wildlife recordings
to vendors iTouch and Mobiletones, which sell cell phone ring
tones. What's next? A fingernails on the blackboard ring? A
hacking phlegmy cough ring?
