NORTHERN has been around since the bad old days of NT 3.1, pioneering the storage management solutions market from 1995 onwards, when the founders saw an emerging demand for quota solutions. The first Northern Software solution was developed for one of Sweden's largest telecom companies and soon after other companies realized the power of Northern solutions. The foundations of Northern's award-winning quota technolgy were laid during those last years of the 90's, along with other software solutions such as PrintControl, MobiServer, RasTracker. But the area that Northern came to dominate was the SRM-market, first through the introduction of Quota Server and then pushing SRM-solutions to the next level by delivering a comprehensive solution for managing user-generated data, Northern Storage Suite.

From the very beginning, Northern’s business model has been steeped in the "Swedish tradition": sleek, functional engineering, products that offer power, simplicity and value, and unflagging customer service. With these values as a base, always wanting to exceed customer expectations, rather than just meet them.

EVER PROGRESSIVE
Since it first introduced storage quotas to the emerging NT world, Northern has always placed heavy focus on technical innovation. The company maintains an un-flagging rate of product evolution that is rich and efficient; utilizing in some part internally championed ideas but in the most part the ideas generated in open communication with established enterprise customers.

ENGAGED AND COMMITTED
Northern’s business culture is centered on developing strong and lasting customer relationships. Several high-profile organizations have been members of Northern’s customer community since the mid-nineties, when the company was founded. These relationships could never have been established without the  service-minded attitude of Northern’s staff and the personnel within Northern’s global network of strategic and commercial business partners.

Today Northern focuses solely on its flagship solution Northern Storage Suite.
